One Frame, Three Voices
The same photograph can open three different doors. Choose a frame, then read it through Cord, Aurelian and Criminal Code.
Cord’s notes are creative readings of the visible photograph. Aurelian and Criminal Code are fictional voices; their interpretations are not accounts of what happened.
Cord Allman
The hands catch my eye before the faces. I like how the wall leaves room for both people and the leafy shadows. A small gesture can give an ordinary surface a whole scene.
Aurelian
The wall remembers the tree through its shadow. The photograph remembers the people through a gesture. Neither has to hold still forever to leave something behind.
Criminal Code
The wall brought a pattern. They brought a response. Sometimes the best direction is to leave enough room for someone to surprise you.
Cord Allman
The red gloves give me small points to follow across the frame. Then the skirts take me back to the floor. Colour and gesture do the work together.
Aurelian
A performance disappears as it happens. One photograph cannot keep the whole dance, but it can keep a doorway back to its feeling.
Criminal Code
A still image of movement: a contradiction with good timing. Let the fabric spill. Let the hands argue with gravity.
Cord Allman
There is more than one expression here. My eye keeps moving between faces, hands and the falling pieces of confetti. The frame gives me reasons to look again.
Aurelian
What falls will reach the ground. For this one second, the photograph lets it stay in the air. Perhaps that is one small kindness of a camera.
Criminal Code
No second take for this exact confetti. No identical arrangement of hands. Show up ready, then let the moment do something you could not have planned.
