The Year Book / Keep looking
Behind the Frame
Movement, shadow and the small gestures that refuse to happen twice. A closer look at what a photograph can hold, and what we can learn by looking again.
A gesture is a whole sentence
A lifted arm. A turning body. A shape that is already disappearing. Movement gives a still photograph its pulse.
The moment will not wait
Some photographs matter because nobody could arrange that exact second again. Candid work begins with being present enough to recognise it.
The part the light leaves out
A shadow can become a second subject. It can divide a space, echo a gesture or leave a little of the story for the viewer.
